Bumble Bee Survey

There are more than 20 species of bumble bees native to Wisconsin. Spring is the time to find bumblebee queens flying about in search of good nesting habitat to raise their young. Early summer finds the colony growing. By late summer, males emerge and find new queens to mate with. Only queen bumble bees overwinter. We’ll see if bumble bees or other native pollinators are around, take photos of them, and see who we can identify.

Meet at the closed gate near the entry to the campground. Please note there are no bathrooms or water available here. A Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.
