Monarch Tagging

Come net and tag monarch butterflies with Park Naturalist Phyllis McKenzie as part of a national citizen science effort to track the movements of these beautiful butterflies on their migration path. Monarchs have not been seen in large numbers this summer, so we’ll see how migration is progressing. Bring sunscreen and a bottle of water. All ages are welcome. We’ll meet at the Old Gate near the campground then hike to Friends Pond (about 0.3 miles) in search of monarch butterflies to tag. Meet at the Closed Gate near the entry to the campground. To drive to Friends Pond, follow County Rd. V to County Rd. KK (Moenning Rd.): head south to Old Park Rd., then east to the Friends Pond parking lot.
