Among the Grasses

Take a family-friendly walk through a tall-grass prairie and explore what makes this ecosystem unique. We’ll talk about the animals that live here, the remarkable adaptations of prairie plants, and how fire helps keep the landscape healthy and thriving. This event is free to attend for participants of all ages. Outdoor events are weather dependent. We suggest bringing water, sunscreen, a hat, and bug spray. Dress for the weather. Meet at Friends Pond. To reach Friends Pond, walk or bike along Old Park Road from the campground or drive out of the park and around the block to the Friends Pond parking lot. A vault toilet is available at this location. A Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.
